AIDS Jagruthi Mahila Sangha : Women Empowerment
Jagruthi, meaning “Awareness” in Kannada, operates across five talukas and 368 villages in Bijapur district,collaborating with various local NGOs. The project supports Women in Sex Work (WSW), their regular partners, and clients through community driven initiatives led by peer educators from the sex worker community and change agents like auto drivers and lodge boys. Jagruthi plays a vital role in empowering women in sex work by fostering a safer environment that enables them to take greater control of their lives and well-being.

The goal is to create a stigma-free and discrimination-free environment for women in sex work in Bijapur district, enabling
them to lead lives of dignity and fully enjoy their entitled civil rights.
- Strengthen prevention measures against HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections among women in sex work.
- Facilitate access to care and support for women living with HIV.
- Develop credit facilities to empower women financially.
- Educate women about their legal rights and assist them in accessing justice through the courts.
