Community Behavior Change Communication:
Encourage condom use among WSW to reduce the risk of STIs and HIV, while promoting regular clinic visits and ICTC testing for early detection and treatment.
STI Services & Outreach Clinics:
Train local PHCs and government doctors to offer clinical services and mentorship, establish STI service linkages, and promote syphilis testing for early detection and treatment among high-risk groups. Organize outreach clinics in key locations and engage peer educators at ANM or Anganwadi centers to enhance acess to health services.
Referral Clinic (Govt):
Referrals are made to nearby PHCs, CHCs, and Taluka Hospitals.Women in sex work are directed to STD clinics at Taluka and DistrictHospitals for specialized care.
Condom Programming & Social Marketing:
Distribute free condoms regularly, review demand quarterly, and promote usage through social marketing, including female condom initiatives with KSAPS support.
Strategies to Address HIV-Positive WSWs:
The program offers personalized care and counseling to women in sex work (WSWs), engages with their families for support, and promotes ICTC testing for their partners. HIV-positive WSWs are linked to ART centers and referred for TB testing every six months. They are also connected to positive networks and CCC services. Monthly meetings on hygiene and nutrition are held, and advocacy sessions with district surgeons and DAPCU address the healthcare needs of HIVpositive WSWs, ensuring comprehensive support.
Strategies to Improve Condom Usage with Regular Partners:
Conduct group meetings with regular partners. Organize couple sessions on mutual understanding of condom use. Develop negotiation skills through focused training sessions.
Activities to Address Young and New women in sex work:
Identify and engage new and young women in sex work through hotspot meetings and peer educators, gather site details, and hold quarterly meetings to address their needs.
Social Protection:
To create awareness among women in sex work (WSW) about social entitlements and government schemes. To facilitates access to essential documents and supports members with the requirements for govt schemes, ensuring they can benefit from social protection.
Building Institutional Capacity:
Conduct regular review meetings and audits to build institutional capacity, ensuring good governance and transparency. Focus on evaluating the performance of AJMS, identifying areas for improvement, and strengthening internal processes. Further, assess program implementation, resource utilization, and staff performance.
Community Mobilization:
Conduct hotspot meetings to foster an enabling environment for women in sex work, to access project services. Organize Self-Help group (SHG) meetings. Hold taluka and district-level committee meetings for collaborative engagement.
